My name is Mia Hanger, and I will graduate as part of the 2025 class from York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. I have participated in track and field since my freshman year, and I am a dedicated student with a GPA of 4.668. I have embraced new roles throughout each track season, learning the importance of flexibility and setting goals. For example, as a Junior, I started running the 400, and by the end of the season, I had a PR of 59.77 and went to State for the 4×400. My next goals are to achieve a 400-meter time of 59.2 seconds and a 200-meter time of 25.9 seconds.   

As a freshman, I joined the track team as a jumper, getting my highest mark in long jump at 4.44 m, but with my eagerness to explore different events, I began running my sophomore year. By the end of that year, I competed at State in the 4×100 and the 4×200; additionally, I set a new PR of 9.64 m in the triple jump. In addition to track, I am also a member of a year-round competitive dance team called Steppin’ Out. You can spot me dancing on the track to help energize my teammates before a race. I always bring a spirited and supportive attitude to every practice. These qualities have led me to become a varsity sprint captain for the track team.  

 My hope for college is to find a school that excites me academically and athletically. I can’t wait to be a part of an encouraging and fun team that will continue pushing me to be a better athlete.
