My name is Jeremy Melton and I am a student-athlete at Pontiac Township High School located in Pontiac, Illinois. I am also set to graduate in the class of 2025 here at PTHS. The events I compete in are high and long jump. With my 6’5 frame, I have cleared the height of 6’7ft (2.01 meters) in HJ and a distance of 20’9ft (6.32 meters) in LJ. I qualified at IHSA 2A State for HJ in my sophomore year and placed 12th. In my junior year, I qualified at IHSA 2A State for HJ for the second time and became an All-State jumper by placing 5th and clearing the height of 6’5 (1.96 meters). Not to mention, I placed 4th at the Illinois Top Times meet. Finishing up my All-State performance, I qualified and competed at New Balance Nationals Outdoor and placed 16th. I also qualified and competed at the AAU Junior Olympics Nationals over the summer with my club team, Central Illinois Track. As an academic student, I have a cumulative GPA of 3.52.  

I have set many goals for my upcoming senior year, including better marks in both high and long jump. I plan to add to my school record that I hold in HJ and extend that mark to 6’10ft (2.08 meters) and for LJ, my goal is to break 23ft (7.00 meters). Besides marks and standards, my other goals are placing at state for LJ, winning a state championship in HJ, and even becoming an All-American. Outside of sports, I plan to maintain my 3.5 GPA and I hope to increase it during my senior year. With hard work and dedication, I can achieve these goals with no problem. I am also looking forward to my upcoming varsity season in basketball and a returning varsity captain for the track team for my senior season.
