My name is Sophie Rentmeister and I will be graduating in the class of 2027 at Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois. My PRs are 3 miles-17:57, 800m-2:16, 1600m- 5:22. I am an all-state cross country athlete and was a part of the 2023 IHSA 2A State Champion title. I was also Team Captain of the 2024 Cross Country team that finished with a 3rd place podium finish at IHSA 2A State. This past track season, I placed All state 8th at Indoor State Top Times for the 800, and qualified for state outdoors, getting the number 2 fastest time at my school with a 2:16. My goals this cross country season is to PR as many times as I can, be a part of another state title, and make All state again. For my junior year track season, my goals are to make All-state in the 800m at indoor state and outdoor state, run a 2:10 for the 800m, and get my mile time down to 5:05. 

In addition to running, I am a leader within my school and my community. I am in Student Council and have served as Freshman Representative, Sergeant of Arms, and this year as Public Relations on the Executive Council. I am very passionate about helping others, volunteering for those in need, and helping with people within my school to make Glenwood High School a better place. I have volunteered at Chatham Community Park, Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Chatham Library, Chatham Library’s Reading Program for Kids, Show Choir Camp for Kids, the Sweet Corn Festival, and many more. I was also a part of the group of individuals that helped fundraiser over $100,000 for the Chatham Strong tragedy that effected my High School and my hometown. I also work at a local healthy shake and tea shop where I educate people about nutrition and work as a barista part-time. Along with Student Council and my job, my unweighted GPA is 3.46 a and my weighted GPA is a 4.69. This year I will be taking four APs and two Honors classes in order to challenge myself in the best way possible. 

I am a very strong driven person and I love dedicating myself to my athletics and academics. I love challenging myself, improving, and learning how I can become the best version of myself. Cross country, track, and Executive Student Council have made me who I am and have given me the strong willpower to always do what I love, improve, and help encourage others along the way.
