My name is Eve Hoeltgen and I am a junior at Barrington High School in Illinois and I will be graduating in the spring of 2019. I am a distance runner and have been on the varsity Barrington cross country and track teams since I was a freshman. In the past I have been all conference in the MSL three times for cross country and two times for track. I have also been on one sectional champion cross country team, two state qualifying cross country teams, and one cross country team that finished 3rd at the 2017 NXR Midwest Regional. My PR for 3 miles in cross country is 18:36, and my PR for the 3200m is 11:25. In college I would love to try steeplechase in the future (Colleen Quigley and Emma Coburn are my idols). As of now, I am working harder that ever and am hoping for a successful track season!

As a student, I take the hardest classes I can, and study multiple hours a day so that I will always perform to the best of my abilities. I have scored a 31 on my ACT, I have a 4.4 weighted GPA and a 3.867 unweighted GPA. I have taken 5 AP classes and all my other classes have been honors except one freshman class and art. My favorite class I have taken so far is AP US History. I intend to major in either Foreign Relations, Political Science, or Pre-Law.

I will bring something special to any school I attend. I am dedicated to being the best student, friend, and teammate I can be. I set a good example for others by always giving my best effort. I would be a good addition to the team because I will be there for my teammates on and off the track for whatever they need, I can be there and listen or give advice. I also understand that “there is not I in team” and am willing to do what is best for the team even if it is not the ideal situation for myself personally.

In my free time, I love to be outdoors and to spend time away from screens as much as I can. I enjoy walking my dog, swimming, biking, and golfing. I also love reading, traveling, and cooking. At school outside of running, I am involved in Student Council and have been a Committee head for two years. I also find time to babysit many weekends and volunteer. In the past, I have volunteered at Walk On Farm, where people with special needs can do therapeutic horseback riding. I also am involved with the Youth Ministry at my church. Recently I volunteered to lead a church retreat for sophomores who are about to get confirmed at my church in April. I also go to the youth church group after mass when I can.
