My name is Sophia Harcus and I’m a rising 2024 future graduate at Lake Zurich High School. I play midfield, defense, and a draw specialist. I have a weighted GPA of 4.8 and am enrolled in all honor and AP classes. In addition, I am a member of the National Honor Society and am involved in several clubs and societies to help develop my leadership skills. During the lacrosse club season, I play for the True National 2024 and True Illinois State 2024 teams. During my freshman year high school season I made All-Conference, where I led my high school in goals, assists, ground balls and draws won; while also being in the top five in the Conference in each category. My goal is to be an impact player, play collegiate lacrosse and be a leader both on and off the field.

As a lacrosse player, I play midfield and I am extremely effective either on the draw or on the circle. In addition, I am a tenacious defender and was recently recognized by Inside Lacrosse for my contributions at the South West Cup in November 2021. I am a very dedicated and hard worker. I will practice a skill until I can perfect it and am always striving to become a better player. I have been seeing a personal trainer for two years as I continue to get stronger, faster and more agile on the lacrosse field. I am a compassionate person that is so passionate about the sport of lacrosse, but also about the community I reside. I can bring a new level of aggressiveness and the hunger to improve and strive as a collective unit. In fact, my teammates have given me the nickname the “Ground Ball Queen” for how successful I am at getting ground balls. I am a part of the Buddy Project at school that helps special needs kids engage in school-related activities. I am also the Vice President of the Sophomore Class Board and have recently been accepted into the FAME program. The FAME program is a year-long initiative that is focused on helping freshmen get accustomed to the life of highschool.
