My name is Cassidy Short. I am in the graduating class of 2023, at Sullivan High School, in Sullivan, Illinois. Currently, I compete in the long jump and triple jump as part of my track & field experience. Recently, I jumped 17’6.75” in the long jump. During the recent State event, I placed 5th indoors and 7th outdoors. Last year, as a sophomore, I jumped 33’3.25” in triple jump and received the most points scored award, leadership award and state athlete award. My goals for my senior season are to add triple jump back into my events and get 36’. I did not participate in the triple jump, during my junior year, so I could focus on my long-jump and team relays. Academically, I am ranked 1/78 in my graduating class with a 4.0/4.0 GPA and have received the high honor roll for all three years of high school while taking as many advanced courses that are available. I am continuing to pursue my goals of improving in the classroom and on the track.

As a hardworking student athlete my goal is to excel in both the classroom and track. I have demonstrated great leadership skills in each aspect of my high-school experience.  I have been a team captain in two varsity sports (track & field and volleyball). Being a team captain has helped me to be a better communicator, motivator, and example of a strong work ethic. Hard work, both in the classroom and track, provide a good foundation for ongoing success. These characteristics have helped me maintain great grades in school and performance on the track. I also know it is important to be active in other areas.  As an example, I am also involved in many clubs/societies to include Student Council, Spanish Club President, National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Future Educators of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and WYSE. Finally, I recently started as a Marketing Intern with a large consumer product manufacturing company.
