My name is Charlie Leonard and I am a member of the high school class of 2024. I am a center back/winger for the Latin School of Chicago and the Chicago Fire Youth Soccer Club 06 Boys Premier team. As a student athlete, I am interested in taking both my academic and athletic careers to the next level.

During my 3^rd year as a varsity athlete, I started at center back and accumulated 8 goal contributions – 3 goals and 5 assists.  Some of my main strengths on the field are my size, strength, and composure on the ball. Being 6’4”, I use my size and physicality to command my back line. Furthermore, I use my composure, ambidextrous skills and ability on the ball to better my team through distribution out of the back.  My coach and team voted for me to lead the team as captain for 2023 and I look forward to another successful season. 

My club team, Chicago Fire Youth Soccer Club 06 Premier, competes in the Elite Academy League, USYS Midwestern Conference, and USYS National League PRO. Last year, I played both outside back and left winger for my team; I had switched to winger late into the season and ended up being the third highest goal-scorer. My versatility enabled me to play in positions necessary to help my team succeed nationally.  

My goal as a student athlete is to apply the skills I have acquired from both my athletics and academics to my daily life. Off the field, I am very committed to my academics. I currently have a 3.88 unweighted GPA. At Latin, I take the most difficult classes available including Mandarin, Honors Math and Science, and AP level classes. Outside of the classroom, I am an avid participant in school clubs, being a member of my school’s Green Club, Computer Science Club, and Cyberpatriot Club.
