My name is Ben Crombie and I am a member of the class of 2024. I run track and cross country at Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln, Illinois with personal best times of :52/1:59/4:38. I am also a varsity starter in soccer and I play club soccer as a secondary sport to track in the spring. Having grown to 6’2” this season with an athletic frame, I get pushed around a lot less in races. On the academic side, I have a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1250 on the SAT. I have a lot of goals that I am working towards in my high school career. I would really like to run a 1:57 by the end of my junior year and help lead my team to the 4x800m state title. My goals for my senior year are to run under 15:40 for 3 miles in cross country, 49.99 in the 400m, 1:54 for the 800m and 4:20 in the mile. 

Above any statistic or fact, the thing that sets me apart the most is that I am coachable and personable. I have always had great relationships with coaches and teammates. These relationships have created an amazing team environment that has helped me grow significantly as an athlete. I am eager to find the same environment in college. I have managed to improve a lot in the past year. With relatively low mileage, I credit a lot of this improvement to physical growth. When it comes to athletics, I have a great work ethic and I will take the offseason as an opportunity to train harder than I ever have to achieve my goals. My activities outside of school also set me apart. I volunteer at my local humane society and I am involved in multiple clubs. This year, I also had the opportunity to expand on my interest in business by taking part in a local entrepreneurial program that offered non traditional learning opportunities with Lincoln business owners and allowed me to start my own business. 

I am eager to continue training to become the athlete that I know I can be. It has always been a dream of mine to run at the collegiate level and I would love to be able to make that dream a reality. For more information, please email me at bencrombie2024@gmail.com.
