My name is Anne Berquist and I am a junior at Barrington High School located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I am a distance runner and started my running career in middle school. During my middle school cross country season, I received medals for 19th and 9th place while competing in the IESA State meet in Normal, Illinois. I have been a Varsity Cross Country and Track athlete since my freshman year. I have been All-Conference in the MSL as a freshman (19th) and sophomore (4th). My team has qualified for State each year and finished 3rd at NXR Midwest Regionals. My PR for 3 miles is 17:47 in 2018 and my PR for the 3200M is 11:17. Last spring I was honored to represent my school at State in the 4 X 800 relay. We received a 4th place medal at State. My individual PR split in the 4 X 800 is 2:20.

As a student, I have a weighted GPA of 4.4 with a 1380 SAT on my first try. I have taken AP classes since freshman year. My favorite class has been AP World History. I am a member of the National Spanish Honor Society.

My coach has asked me to represent the team on the Athletic Leadership Council. We represent the team at monthly meetings with the Athletic Director where we practice leadership skills, foster school spirit, and support all athletics on campus. In the fall of 2017, as a freshman, I was nominated as a Green Dot leader. Green Dot is a national program on high school and college campuses that teaches bystander intervention. Its aim is to prevent violence and promote proactive behaviors which build respect within communities. We promote the Green Dot ideals at football games and school assemblies. During the first two years of high school, I was a member of the marching and symphonic bands. I play the flute and had the honor of representing BHS in London at the New Year Parade.

 I am interested in studying history, psychology and/or pre-law. For the last four years, I have also volunteered at a nursing home working with seniors completing crafts and bingo.
