My name is Ashley Heidenrich and I am a student-athlete in the class of 2020 at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, Illinois. I compete in cross country and track, and I specialize in distance events. My personal bests include 5:13 in the 1600, 11:01 in the 3200, and 17:13 in the cross country 3 mile. Throughout high school, I have taken all AP/Honors classes and am currently ranked first in my class of over 600 students. My other academic highlights include a 4.76 GPA and a 34 ACT. I am looking forward to exploring a major in policy or law and continuing my love for volunteering with special needs individuals in college.

Running is truly my passion and every day I look forward to working hard and pushing myself and my teammates to new heights. For this reason, I will be an asset to any college team –  I am determined to do whatever it takes to help the team meet its goals. I have significant potential for improvement in college; I continue to drop my times each season and I am consistently working to improve my performance. I am also thrilled to have the opportunity to run the 5k and 10k in track, because longer distances are my strength. With a team oriented mindset, a key value of mine is working to empower and encourage every member of my team. Over the past year as team captain, I have served as an intermediary between my teammates and coach and I implemented a team-wide injury prevention routine.With a passion for learning and public service, I will also be an asset to the university, where I plan to be actively involved in academics and research.

As I take this next step toward college in my athletic and academic career, I am prepared and motivated to meet new challenges.
