My name is Austin Ward in the graduating class of 2025 and I run track at Oswego East High School in Illinois. I am a mid distance runner with personal bests of 49.34 in the 400m and 1:58.7 in the 800m. I also split 1:56.6 in the 4x800m relay as first leg. I am 6’0” and 145 lbs. This year I ran the 400, 4×4, and 4×8 at the state meet and placed 7th in the 4×8 for class 3A. I will also be competing in the 400, 800, and 4×4 at the AAU Jr Olympic Games. Academically I have a 3.25 GPA and am taking AP and dual credit courses this senior year. I would like to break the 400m and 800m record at OEHS with marks of 48.5 and 1:53.5 respectively. 

My best traits, however, are my work ethic and drive to be the best version of myself possible. I have had many coaches along the way who have all impacted me positively, each one instilling their values within me and helping me grow as an athlete and person. The relationships my coaches and teammates share with me help me to grow and improve throughout the season. Although I have only been participating in the sport of track and field for 2 years, I have still created amazing bonds with both my teammates and coaches. Outside of track, I am a member of the OEHS Varsity Soccer Team, and an honor roll student. I am also a member of the Student Athlete Leadership Team at OEHS.
