My name is Ava Wilson and I will be graduating from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois as part of the class of 2025. I compete in the 100, 200, and 400. This past summer I competed at the USATF National Championships with a PR of 59.43 in the 400. I also competed at the USATF Regional Championships where I ran a PR of 25.73 in the 200. Running in the Junior Olympics for the last three consecutive years has provided me with a greater appreciation for the level of competition and the dedication required to reach my goals. My goals for this upcoming season consist of 12.00 in the 100, 25.00 in the 200 and 58.00 in the 400. Academically, I am currently taking 4 AP classes. Since my freshman year, I have been on the gold honor roll, and since sophomore year, I have been a member of National Honors Society and have maintained a GPA of 4.7 or higher. Additionally, prior to high school, I was the recipient of the superintendent’s award, which is presented to the individual who goes above and beyond normal expectations to support the district’s tradition of excellence.

I can contribute to any team I join by providing a very strong work ethic, support and encouragement towards teammates, and leadership skills, which all feed into a more positive and motivated environment. My drive doesn’t go unnoticed by my coaches, teachers, and even my teammates, who I have pushed to become the best versions of themselves. My extracurricular activities at Stevenson include being a member of the Black Student Union, as well as a student mentor for freshmen, with whom I guide and help to adapt to their new environment. Of most importance, though, is my faith, which has continually been my firm foundation and the backbone to my success. 

I want to attend a college where I can push myself both academically and athletically. I am open to all options and ultimately want to find the best match that will foster the growth of my passion and commitment. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter has in store for me.
