My name is Becca Heitzig, class of 2024, and I run track and cross country at Lincoln Community High School. At the end of my sophomore track season, I won 2A state in the 800m run achieving a personal best of 2:09. I have current personal bests of 4:53 for 1600m, 10:45 for the indoor 3200m, and 17:14 for three miles. My current goal for the 2022 cross country season is to break 17:00 for three miles. As for the 2023 track season, my goals are 2:07 for 800m, 4:50 for 1600m, 10:30 for 3200m, and to run 56.7 for 400m. I know that I can achieve these goals if I train hard, continue to build strength, and nourish my body properly. 

Since, I also play volleyball and basketball, I have learned about being part of a team, and how similar my team and  family are.  I encourage my teammates to never give up when a mountain seems too high to climb.  As I have gotten older, I have gained confidence in myself which has helped me to become a better leader for my teams. Being a good student is very important to me because student comes before athlete in student-athlete. I have a non-weighted GPA of 4.0. Also, I  am in student government, library club, and math club. Outside of school, I am part of a council at my church and I help a young girl with a disability during Sunday school.
