My name is Brenden Heitzig. I am part of the class of 2023, and I run track and cross country at Lincoln Community High School. As a Junior, I have current personal bests of 4:18 for the 1600m, 9:34 for 3200m, and 15:15 for three miles in cross country. I took 3rd place in the IHSA Class 2A 1600m finals after running a 1:57.1 4x800m split to help the Lincoln Track and Field team win the IHSA 4×800 State Final. My goals for Senior year are to win the IHSA Cross Country Championships in 14:29 for 3 miles, and to run sub 4:10 for 1600m, sub 9:10 for 3200m, and sub 1:55 for 800m. I am extremely excited to take up the challenge and work my hardest to achieve such goals!

Since my freshman year at Lincoln Community High School, I have been a hard working athlete working on improving my goals while trying my best to encourage and lead my teammates to breakthroughs along the way. I work to be an enthusiastic leader on my team to bring the team together, so I highly value a team that becomes a family. While pushing my body’s physical limits, I also push myself in the classroom maintaining a 4.345 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. I am a member of the National Honor Society in school, and I am also a volunteer youth minister assistant at Lincoln Christian Church.

I am very excited to work my hardest during my final year at Lincoln Community High School, and look forward to making lifelong memories with my high school cross country and track teams. I am passionate about running, and would be thrilled to pursue an athletic career in the sport along with an academic career in college.
