Brenna Stearns

2025 Track & Field Athlete from Marion HS

My name is Brenna Stearns and I am a 2025 student athlete at Marion High School in Illinois. My main events are the 300 M hurdles (47.41) and 100 M hurdles (16.64). However, I also play a vital role in my team’s 4×1, 4×2, and 4×4 varying from meet to meet. I competed in the 4×2 at the Illinois IHSA 2A state track meet as a freshman where I ran the first leg of the race and we placed 16th overall. I also, more recently, competed at the 2A Illinois Top Times Championship and placed 17th in the 60 M hurdles my sophomore year, with a time of 10.16. In May 2023, I qualified for state in the 300 M hurdles and the 4×1.  At the IHSA 2A state track meet I placed 11th in the 300 M hurdles and 22nd in the 4×1.  I recieved the All South Award voted on by coaches in the Southern Illinois Coaches Association my freshman and sophomore year. I was recognized as All Conference in 3 events including 300 M hurdles, 100 M hurdles, and the 4×2. My goals for my upcoming junior season for the 300 M hurdles are to run sub 47 seconds, to place top 9 at state, and to break my school’s record.  As for my goals in the 100 M hurdles, I am striving to run sub 16 seconds and qualify for state.

As an athlete, my greatest strengths are my determination, dedication, and motivation. Day in and day out I push myself to the best I can be. I spend the majority of my time on the track and in the weight room striving to be the best athlete possible. I am highly accountable and I work hard to help the younger teammates improve and learn together as a team. I always seek to be the best version of myself, whether that is in the classroom, on the track, or in my community. I have also been playing basketball since 6th grade and been on the varsity roster since freshman year. The basketball team has taught me how to support and love my teammates no matter what. Additionally, I have worked at my local pet shop, Pure Pet, for one year now and I could not love it more. I learn so much every day about how to be a great team member and put others needs in front of mine. I have also developed an additional understanding of responsibility and accountability with this job. The lessons I have learned so far in high school and through work will be my greatest strengths in college.

I am ecstatic about the future opportunity of running at the collegiate level. Being involved in a college track team is very important and a dream of mine to not only grow as an individual, but also help me further my education and track career. I hope you will consider me as a candidate for your 2025 track and field program! For more information, please email me at brennastearns2025@gmail.com.
