My name is Charlie Richardson, I am part of the class of 2023, specializing in mid-distance events. I currently attend DePaul College Prep in Illinois. Throughout high school, running quickly became one of my favorite activities because of my passion to drive my times as low as possible. Though I was deprived of my freshman and junior track seasons due to covid and injury, I have still been able to clock 1:57 in the 800, 51 in the 400, 4:26 in the mile, and 15:33 in the 3 mile. With these times, I have earned all regional, sectional, and state honors in both track and cross country over my high school career. My greatest accomplishment that has come from running was winning the 1A state championship as a team in 2022, a truly remarkable experience after placing third the year prior. Along with running, I hold my academics as a top priority, holding a 3.83 GPA while taking international baccalaureate, advanced placement, and honors classes over the last 3 years.

While I am proud of the times that I have clocked so far in my high school career, I know that I am capable of much more. Injury ended my junior season after indoor. I was happy with my times, but know I can do so much more. This drive to be better is something that holds true on the track and in the classroom and is one of my greatest traits that I can bring to a team. My drive and competitiveness influence teammates to put their best foot forward and to be the best version of themselves too. Outside of school and running, I participate in the Black Student Union at my school as an advocate and ally, I founded the Varsity LifeSmarts team and one of two captains on said team, and I participate in the advanced band class, performing at a handful of concerts each month.

Overall, I look to continue my running career at the collegiate level and to make an impact on whatever team it is that I end up on. With competitiveness and dedication, I know that I can run competitive times at the collegiate level and desire the opportunity to do so.
