My name is Cheyanne Stock, my graduate year is 2023, and I attend Valparaiso High School. I run for the Girls across Country/ Track team at VHS. I have been running since the ripe age of 5 years old. It has always been the most important thing to me and something that I would and could never give up. It has taught me life lessons and coping skills. 

This year (2022) I have been the happiest and saddest with my running. During the Semi-State for cross country I obtained a stress fracture in my right fibula. This took away a lot from me and one of those things being me not being able to compete at the State Finals. No matter how bad it hurt I wouldn’t take it back if I could. It showed me new passions that I did not know I had before until I had no other option. I worked hard over the three month injury time period and focused on fueling my body and giving it the proper care to heal. After those three months were up I was able to run again and everything started to fall back into place. I ran in the 4×800 the whole entire season of track. We went the whole entire season undefeated. That even being at State we won by eight seconds in the relay, we went to New Balance Nationals and got fourth in the Nation.

Upholding our performance the day after the State finals I competed at Magis Miles and didn’t expect anything crazy as we just raced the day before. I ended up cutting off 10 seconds off of my time, going from a 5:18 down to a 5:08. I Believe that I bring a strong positive mentality to the team and I enjoy seeing people meet their goals and will be there with them to celebrate the achievements, little or big. My most recent GPA stands at 3.6, school and running have always been my priorities and I’m always pushing myself to try and make myself the best version and person that I can be. For this upcoming season I am going to push myself and work hard to see how far I can go. I have set no direct expectations other than putting my all into my last seasons of highschool and setting up a good future for myself.
