My name is Colin Campbell, and I am a rising senior at the Latin School of Chicago and will graduate in the spring of 2021. I have been a three year starter and co-captain on Latin’s varsity team, scoring 12 goals and 26 assists as a midfielder over these three years. In addition to midfield, I have played on a back line as center back and wing back that allowed only .72 goals a game in the year 2018. I pride myself on being a leader on and off the team, and was elected again as co-captain for next year’s season.  

Regarding club soccer, I am a defender, midfielder, and co-captain for the U17 Chicago Fire Juniors Pre-Academy team. Our team competes in the US Youth Soccer National League and won the Illinois State Cup in 2017 and the Midwest Conference (MWC) in 2018. Last year as a defender, Iwas honored to be selected to the MWC’s First Team as a defender in 2019. Over the last two years prior to the COVID cancelled season, I have scored 15 goals, (10  of 10 on penalty kicks) and have had 5 assists.

 Academics wise, I have a 3.9 weighted GPA and have taken seven honors classes in the last three years. For my senior year, I am taking 5 honors courses. I am a member of Latin’sErasmus honor society and head of Latin’s male a capella group. I value academics the same as athletics, meaning I want to attend a college that is just as known for its academics as well as its soccer program. I can bring a lot to any team, physically and mentally, both in the midfield and on defense. As a 6’0” player, my speed and strength and physicality has helped my team a lot. My long throw-ins, accurate lead passes, heading skills, and ability to beat someone down the wing and cross the ball has also contributed. I too am a prominent leader on, and off the field.
