Costa Kampas

2026 OL from York HS

My name is Costa Kampas, and I am in the class of 2026. I live in Elmhurst, Illinois and attend York Community High School. I am an offensive lineman for the York Dukes. As a student athlete, my goal is to take both my academic and athletic careers to the next level and consistently challenge myself.

I began my sophomore year as a starter on JV and had the privilege of being pulled up to Varsity. During my stretch with Varsity, I was able to see the field at my preferred position where I accumulated multiple drives and to split snaps with a talented senior. Some of my main strengths on the football field, while being 6’5 and 260 lbs., is not only my size, but my strength and speed. I use my size to be as physical and hard to move as possible while using  both my speed and quick first step to angle myself correctly.

I always treat my coaches with respect and have consistently been told that I am very coachable. I believe a great trait I have is that I always bring high energy to the field, not only when things go right during a big run or a pass play, but to keep positivity and focus going when we are faced with challenges. I strive to get the line fired up and ready to execute the next play. I was lucky enough to play at the varsity level with the best offensive line in York Duke’s history which set a school record with 2,000 rushing yards. These last 2 years of football have been exceptional for our school, having made it to the 8A State Semi-Finals back-to-back. The first year I participated as a spectator, which was amazing. However, being on the field as an active player that next year was exceptional in what I felt about the sport and what that experience taught me. I learned, from a mostly senior offensive line, what it takes to be as good as they are, what consistent hard work and dedication can get you both on and off the field. During the playoffs, I was able to compete with multiple 3 stars, 4 stars and 5-star defensive linemen across Illinois. As a sophomore, I’ve held my ground over these big-name Power 5 recruits.

My goal as a student-athlete is to apply the skills I’ve learned from players and coaches to perform at the next level athletically and academically. My education continues to be a high priority and I have maintained a 4.17 GPA. I have made the High Honor Roll every semester. Recently, I was elected by my AP teacher as Student of the Month which is a big accomplishment as it focuses on outstanding attitude, participation and academic excellence. I also made the York Dukes Football Champions Club which is reserved for those student athletes that show their continued commitment to training in the off-season (Power Club before school) along with letters of recommendations from teachers who can attest to academic excellence and exceptional character in the classroom. I am also a Co-Ambassador of the Entrepreneurship Club. Currently, I am enrolled in both Honors Math and English and Advanced Placement US Government. Outside of the classroom, I continue my language skills by taking Greek lessons (speaking, reading and writing) as I want to continue my strong bond with my Greek heritage. I am involved in my church which always offers me volunteer opportunities within the congregation and community. For more information, please email me at costakampas2026fb@gmail.com.
