David Cox
2024 Utility from Nazareth Academy
Hello. My name is David Cox. I am a junior at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois. I will graduate with the class of 2024. I am a 6″4″ 200lb utility infielder. I am the starting shortstop for my travel team, the Cangelosi Sparks based out of Bensenville, Illinois. I have also helped my team on the mound this year and have topped 89 mph. After pitching, I play first base to rest my arm for a game or two. In contrast, I spent the majority of my high school season starting at third base where my infield velo was 92. My hitting exit velo has been recorded at 99. As our high school team progressed into the state series, I was asked to transition to second base as a way to strengthen our middle infield. As it turned out, our team won the class 3A state championship for the first time in school history!
As a player, I have always put time into advancing my skills, spending hours in the gym every single day. As a shortstop, I am able to cover a lot of ground because of my large frame and my ability to move well laterally. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to help my team. I also provide leadership to both of my teams by encouraging others. I feel like I motivate the people around me to be the best version of themselves. My goal is to be a strong student athlete at the Division 1 Level, with both baseball and academics. For more information, please email me at davidecox2024@gmail.com.
