My name is Dominic Silhol, I am in the class of 2023 and I run Cross Country and Track and Field for Homestead High School, located in Mequon, Wisconsin. My personal records include a 15:33 5k, 9:25 3200m, and 4:29 full mile. These records are accompanied by a 5th place finish, 1st Team All-State at the WIAA Cross Country State Championships, as well as two 1st Team All Conference Awards in Cross Country. I was also nominated for the Cross Country Athlete of the Year at the JSOnline Sports Awards. My goals for this upcoming cross country season are to win the WIAA State Championship meet individually as well as break 15 minutes in the 5k. With the way training has been going this summer, I certainly think these goals are achievable and then I plan to run 4:12 in the 1600m and 8:55 for the 3200m during my senior track season. 

One of the main reasons that led me to join cross country my freshman year were the team captains. More specifically was their ability to set an example as hardworking individuals as well as pushing others to do their best. Having been named team captain  this year, I will be a leader for the younger teammates as well as encourage others to do their best every day. I want to help out less experienced teammates and create a fun environment that builds a team culture. This leadership responsibility as well as hard work in the classroom will be my focus for my senior year at Homestead HS.  I currently maintain a 3.8 GPA taking several honors and Advanced Placement Classes as well as participating in the National Art Honors Society.
