My name is Emilia Smith and I will be graduating from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois as a member of the class of 2025.  I am a serious student-athlete with a 4.57 GPA, 34 ACT score and highly competitive and rapidly improving accomplishments in sprints and jumps.  Though I started late in track and field as a sophomore due to my years in competitive figure skating, I brought my year-round training discipline and focus to this new passion.  As a result, my distances and times have improved dramatically in a short time with a recent PR in triple jump of 11.08m, one full meter longer than I was able to jump just a year ago.  Similarly, my long jump PR improved to 5.23 meters this indoor season vs. 4.82 meters in last year’s outdoor season. In sprints, I set new PRs this season of 26.92 and 1:00.8 in the 200 and 400, respectively.  My goals for the outdoor season this year are 11.20 meters in triple jump, 5.35 meters in long jump, 25.8 in the 200 and 58.9 in the 400. 

I bring passion and intensity to all my pursuits and have established myself as a supportive teammate and respected leader on the team this season.  In addition to track and field, I remain an active member of the New Trier Figure Skating Team and also regularly volunteer for Skate for Girls, an organization that combines skating and math for underserved girls in our area.  My coaches have recognized my drive and coachability as I have worked my way up from an unknown quantity last winter to a varsity leader in jumps and sprints this season. 

My goal is to attend a college where I can continue to challenge myself academically and athletically.  I am excited to explore my limits with like-minded people who are serious about what they do but believe in collaboration and teamwork as part of a supportive and fun environment.  I look forward to learning more about your program! For more information, please email me at emiliamsmith2025@gmail.com.
