My name is Emma Berres and I am a class of 2025 cross country and track student athlete at Naperville North High School in Naperville, Illinois. During my freshman season, I ran a 4:59 1600m at Batavia Distance Night and a 2:16 800m at WWS Tiger Invite. I ran the 4×800, 800, and 4×400 in the IHSA state track meet, placing 2nd all state in the 4×800 2022 3A championship. Freshman year I also ran at state for cross country but after my disappointing ACL injury, it prevented me from competing at the state XC meet my sophomore year. I relentlessly stuck to my rehabilitation and conditioning program and I qualified for state in the 4×8 less than 7 months later. Fully recovered, I can’t wait to achieve my goal of running sub 17:30 and being all state in my upcoming 2023 XC season. Additionally, my junior year track goals are to run a sub 4:55 in the 1600 and 2:12 in the 800, I’m confident I’ll reach my goals. 

I joined cross country and track in 7th grade while simultaneously playing on a nationally ranked soccer team. I worked hard with my teammates and helped lead my teams to state in all 3 sports. My strong drive to work hard and be successful has helped me develop into the determined athlete that I am today. I always encourage my teammates to be the best version of themselves on and off the track because I believe in the importance of a positive and hardworking team atmosphere. While being a dual athlete, I maintained a 4.1 GPA while taking numerous honors courses.
