My name is Evan Bots, class of 2024, and I run Track and Field at Hinsdale Central High School in Illinois. I currently have a 5.7 GPA, while obtaining a 5.0 unweighted GPA with a 1430 SAT (790 Math). Thus far I have taken 7 honors and 6 AP level courses, and I will be taking 2 AP courses and 4 honors courses additionally my senior year. This past season my teammates and I qualified for State in the 4×200 meter relay. During my senior season, my goal is to return to the State meet in the 4×200 relay as well as the 200 meter run with a sub 22 second time. I also aspire to lower my 400 and 100 meter times as close to 50 and 11 seconds respectively, thus placing me as a qualifier in those events as well. I am currently training and running in Meets with a Track Club this summer and have put aside competing in all other sports to focus on training for my upcoming Senior Track season.

I do not have a long history as a Track athlete, having only joined my sophomore year. Because of a football injury in the spring of freshman year, I was unable to compete in any of my familiar sports, however 9 months after my surgery I was medically cleared to run and join the Track team. Being a completely new sport for me, I could never have imagined my dedication and love for running today. During my junior year I saw amazing progress, earning Most Improved Athlete on the Hinsdale Central Track and Field team. I was able to drop my 200 meter time from 24.85 to 22.56 seconds in one season! My rigorous course load at Hinsdale Central has also taught me how to balance school and athletics. In addition, I serve my school on the Executive Board as the student body Vice President, moving up from my prior position with the Student Council. Along with that, I love to spend time helping out in our community by ‘giving back’ to others in need. As an example, through my local church, I work with the food pantry and this past year I also successfully led a group of 8th grade students throughout their faith journey, which culminated in their Confirmation. 

I am beyond excited for what my future holds and I am committed to being an exemplary college student athlete. Competing and running at the collegiate level would be a tremendous honor. For more information, please email me at evanbots2024@gmail.com.
