My name is Gabriela Manzano Pashinian. I am a junior in the class of 2024 attending New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. I am a Long and Triple jumper and a 200 and 400 meter sprinter. Last year, I went to State as a Sophomore and placed 10th in the Long Jump Finals with a jump of 5.44 meters (17’10”) at the 3A State meet. So far this season, I have broken both of my school’s indoor records for the Long and Triple jump,  jumped 5.56 meters  (18’2.89″) in the Long Jump, 11.04 meters (36’6.75″‘) in the Triple Jump, run a 26.87 second 200-meter dash, and a 59.64 second 400-meter dash. I was also chosen to be one of my team’s captains as a Junior and will continue to be one throughout my senior year. For the rest of this season, I am working hard to jump over 19 feet in the Long jump, 37’11” in the Triple Jump, run sub 27 in the 200, and sub 60 in the 400.

I am a strong student with a 3.71 GPA in a rigorous academic environment. I pride myself on being a dedicated, encouraging, and positive teammate in Track and Field and school. I am always looking for an opportunity to help my teammates, motivate them to reach their goals, and even create new ones. I am always willing to get feedback from coaches and teammates, and I strive for new personal bests even when it gets hard. I do everything I can to get stronger as an athlete and quitting is never an option for me. I also run on the Cross Country team and I am a Swim Instructor at the Glenview Park District, where I teach kids ages 3-12 how to swim. I lived in Spain until I was nine years old, long before starting my track career, and I started playing the cello at five years old. After my family and I moved to the US in 2015, I continued playing the cello and have enjoyed it ever since. I am in my High School’s top orchestra and have been since my freshman year, when I was one of only fourteen freshmen selected for this orchestra.
