My name is Gianna Huerta, class of 2023 at Glenbard South and I compete in the 100 M Hurdles (16.11s), 300 M hurdles (50.89s), 200 M (27.62s) and 100 M (12.51s). I’m looking to hit 15.5 seconds for the 100 hurdles, get my 300 hurdles time to the 40s and lastly get my 100 time to 12 seconds. I have the top times in my conference for all of the events and frequently place within the top 3. I have been in 2 varsity sports since sophomore year including track and starting outside hitter for volleyball. I made academic all conference for the 2021 volleyball season and a member of the National Honor Society. I am also currently in AP U.S History and in Spanish 4 Honors. I would love to be somewhere in the medical field like a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant. My goals are to: 1. Smoke everyone that lines up against me 2. Win a state championship for my school & 3. Put my name on school record books.

I am fiercely competitive and have been this way since I can remember. People would describe me as determined, hard-working and goal oriented. I thrive in environments where there are high expectations. As a member of your team, you can count on me to be exemplary on the track and in the classroom. I will be present & focused on winning and will give my best effort every single day.

In summary, working hard is what defines me; I believe excellence is only achieved by determination, focus and consistency. This applies to my studies, athletics and relationships.
