I am Cameron “Gordy” Libby.  I am a track and cross-country athlete at Lake Zurich High School in Illinois, class of 2026. I love to challenge myself to the fullest extent, and the world of running is a perfect environment for me to do so. As a junior last fall, I tested my limits all season, finishing with a PR of 14:50 at my conference meet, more than two minutes faster than my sophomore season best. On the track, I stepped outside of my comfort zone and ran the 800m. With a time of 1:55.4 at the IHSA 3A finals, I earned an All-State medal. I work hard to maintain balance across my events, running 9:25 in April for the 3200m and 4:30 at conference for the 1600m. While I feel privileged to have run these races, I know I can achieve more. I have goals of finishing in the top 10 at the IHSA 3A XC State meet and leading my team to qualify for Nike Cross Nationals. I am also pushing myself to qualify for Footlocker XC nationals. Outside of my track and cross country career, I am motivated to be an excellent student. With a weighted GPA of 4.77, a 35 ACT, and 1530 SAT, I take my learning very seriously.  

For as long as I can remember, I have been fond of exercise. Since the start of my high school career, my appreciation for training has transformed into a competitive fire, one that pushes the limits of myself and my peers. Competition brings out the best in me and drives me to keep improving and never settle. When I feel that I have given everything to a race, the last 200 meters show me that I have more in the tank. Additionally, I always aim to assist others when I can. As a captain of the cross-country team, it is my responsibility to maintain team culture and proper training. Outside of running, I am a part of a freshman mentorship program that helps them acclimate to high school, I have logged more than 115 hours volunteering at a hospital, and I work as a caddie in the summer.
