My name is Harper Bryan, class of 2024 at Glenbard South High School (IL). Because of my strong work ethic, coach-ability and low-drama demeanor, I am confident I can have a positive impact on a track team at the next level. I currently compete in the 110m Hurdles (15.14s), 300m hurdles (39.99s), and long jump (21ft, 4 in). Per my coaches, I’m on track to go sub 14.5s for the 110m hurdles, sub 38.5s in the 300m hurdles, and 22’0+ in long jump next year. Last season, I had the top times in my conference for all of my events and consistently placed in the top three at meets. 

I have competed in two varsity sports since freshman year: track and basketball as the starting forward. I achieved academic all-conference for the 2022 basketball season. This fall, I am taking AP Calculus and AP Psychology. My plan is to pursue a career in the field of athletics and education. My goals this upcoming season are to win a state championship for my school and to  put my name on school record books.

I am fiercely competitive and have been this way since I can remember. People would describe me as determined, hard-working and goal-oriented. I thrive in environments where there are high expectations. As a member of your team, you can count on me to be exemplary on the track and in the classroom. I will be present and focused on winning and will give my best effort every single day.

Working hard is what defines me. Talent is only the starting point. I believe excellence is only achieved by determination, focus and consistency – as well as curiosity about what others can share to help me improve. This applies to my studies, athletics and relationships. As a member of your team, I will set a high bar for myself and always have a positive attitude in encouraging my teammates to do the same.
