My name is Kathleen Sciarini (Katie). I will be graduating from Lincoln Way East High School in 2021.  I began running track in 6th grade for Hickory Creek Middle School, qualifying for state in the 100M hurdles all 3 years.  In 2016, I was the 100M hurdle champion.  My 4x100M relay team also won state that year.  In 2019, as a sophomore, my 100M hurdles PR was 14.95.  In high school, I began to also run, and excel, at the 300M hurdles.  My PR in the 300M hurdles in 2019 was 44.48, which was the fastest state qualifying time in 3A.  I have also had success with being a team member on relays.  In 2019, our 4×400 placed 2nd at state with a time of 3.55 (day 1 qualifying time of 3:52).

My goal, as I move forward in my schooling and track career, is to act in a manner that promotes growth within myself and teammates, with positive thinking and actions.

Staying healthy and respecting those who can help me build my future in track and my future job will help me stay organized and focused. Strong organizational and planning skills were developed when I ran track and danced with a competitive pre-professional dance team for many years. Once I realized my dream was to run track, I stepped down from dance. Besides my organizational skills, I continue to build my role as a supportive team member with leadership and interpersonal skills, while working as a hostess at the local Aurelio’s Pizza, and taking part of the LWE track team captain meetings.

Once I graduate in 2021, I look forward to working hard at my events and becoming a valued team member with a collegiate program. I have learned very early in my track career that staying focused and working hard is only one important key to team success.  Another key factor is to believe in those around you and provide them with support.
