My name is Lexi Affolter and I am a junior in the class of 2021 attending St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, Illinois. I am a three sport varsity athlete participating in cross country, basketball, and track. Throughout my three years at St. Ignatius, I have had many successes in cross country and track. In cross country, my most recent success was placing 4th at Sectionals, helping my team advance to State. Also, I cut off 50 seconds from my Sophomore year 3-mile time. Last track season, I ran a 2:20 in the 800m, placing 1st at Sectionals and qualifying for State. I have also received the Coaches Award and MVP Award. I plan to accomplish running a 2:15 in the 800m and a 5:10 in the 1600m in the near future. 

On my teams, I am a leader both during practice and outside of practice. Often during practice, I lead strength circuits and stretching routines. After practice, I encourage my teammates to join me in the training room to roll out and ice. Also, my experience as a part of the St. Ignatius Varsity Basketball Team, which rosters 11 players, has installed an individual level of mental and physical toughness along with an understanding of my role as a team player. Finally, I mentor and coach young cross country athletes. I custom design workouts for these young athletes and train them on the weekends. In addition, I teach them nutrition, proper stretching, and the importance of recovery. I plan to take my qualities of being a leader and a good teammate with me as I run collegiately. 

Sports and team comradery are what drive me to be the best I can be.
