My name is Libby Castelli.  I will be entering my junior year this fall at O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This past spring, I won the AA South Dakota State title in the 1600 running a time of 4:51.11. I have also had many state runner-up finishes in track the past three years.  My personal best in the 800 is 2:12.44 and I have run a 10:39.65 in the 3200.  In cross country, I have finished in the top 5 in the state the last three years– including a state runner-up finish last year and a third place finish last year at Roy Griak. Going into my junior year, I hope to lower my times in my three track events to sub-2:10 in the 800, sub-4:45 in the 1600 and sub-10:20 in the 3200.  In cross country, I hope to win the state title, win Roy Griak and qualify for NXR.

I have a strong work ethic, and this comes through– especially in the fall as I have to balance cross country and high school soccer at the same time.  The past two years, I have been an all-state soccer player while doing this. In addition, I work hard in the classroom. I have a non-weighted GPA of 3.964. I also volunteer at the St. Francis House and I have volunteered in other capacities coaching soccer.

I love sports and I love being part of a team. I have learned so much and grown so much as a person by being on teams. As such, it is very important to me to continue being on a team in college. Running has become my passion, and I want to run and be a part of a college cross country and track team in my upcoming years. Hopefully, I will get that opportunity.
