My name is Mallory Short, class of 2025, I am a sprinter at Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln, IL. As a freshman, I competed on a 4×400 meter relay at the IHSA 2A state meet. Our relay placed second in state and broke the school record with a time of 3:58.96. Currently my best times are 1:00.09 in the open 400, 26.59 in the 200, and 13.07 in the 100. My freshman and sophomore year I qualified for the Indoor Top Times meet in the 400 and 4×400 freshman year and the 400 my sophomore year. My goals for this 2023 track season are to run 58.9 in the open 400 and for the 200 is to run 25.9. My hope this year is to compete in the IHSA 2A state meet. I like to set high goals for myself that make me work hard and push myself to accomplish them. I am always striving to improve and will work hard to achieve the goals that I set, even if they are not easy. 

During the fall I run on the cross country team. Running on a team like this has taught me how to push myself out of my comfort zone and to never give up when a race gets challenging. Not only am I always looking for ways I can improve myself but I try my best to lift the rest of my team up with me. I try to be a positive role model for the team to look up to. One of my main goals in life is to be a strong leader and help people as much as possible. I am a member of a youth group at our local church and I am passionate about helping out with the kids during Sunday service. I have also spent my time volunteering at the Lincoln Rotary Club and the Humane Society.  

I am determined to reach my goals as an athlete and a student within the next coming years. I will work hard on and off the track to build myself a bright future in college and for years to come. For more information, please email me at malloryshort2025@gmail.com.
