My name is Mason Kottmeyer and I am a 2020 graduate from Kaneland High School in Maple Park, Illinois.  I am 6’5” and weigh 185 pounds and have been playing baseball all my life.  I am a right-handed pitcher that also bats right with superior bat speed.  I also play first and third base for the various teams that I am a part of.  I love to be given the ball to compete for my team and to give them a chance to win every game that I pitch for them.  I pitch with a high three-quarters arm slot and have always had great location and movement on my pitches.  Over the past year, I have started lifting weights as part of my training.  This has elevated my fastball to the mid 80’s with plenty of additional speed potential as I continue to gain weight and muscle over my final two years of high school.  Due to my height and pitching style, I have always been told that hitters often have trouble picking up my pitches.

I am extremely proud of my academic achievements off of the baseball diamond.  I have a 4.0 grade point average with a class rank in the top 20 of my class.  I am scheduled to take several honors courses during my upcoming Junior and Senior years.

I am very much a thinking pitcher that tries to beat every batter that comes up against me, especially the 2nd or 3rd time through the order.  With command of my curveball and changeup, and as my fastball velocity increases, I am finding that I have more options against batters as they see me multiple times in a game.  I pride myself on going deeper in games then the opposing pitcher, often completing entire games and recording shut-outs.  I have always been extremely coachable, always willing to consider and incorporate any suggestions and critiques into my pitching technique.  I am a team-first player that enjoys playing for my teammates.

I would like to play for a college baseball program that will challenge me to continually improve myself to help the team win games and to attend a college that will challenge me academically.  I have the tools and mental toughness to compete and win for almost any level of college baseball program.  For more information, please email me at masonkottmeyer2020@gmail.com.
