My name is Matthew Cruise; I am a 2022 graduate from Seneca High School located in Seneca, IL. I am currently 5’11’’ and my weight is currently at 175 lbs. I am a right handed pitching shortstop. Off the mound, I am pitching a 2 seam fastball with late movement at 83-84 mph and topping at 85 mph. My changeup that dives inside on batters is 70-72 mph. The curveball I throw that has plenty of spin on it is moving at 72-73 mph. My goal is to pitch a max fastball of 90 by the end of club baseball. That gives me 5-6 months to reach that goal. I’m currently eating a lot of protein and lifting consistently throughout the week to meet this goal. 

My freshman year of high school I started the season as the starting shortstop and number 1 in the pitching rotation for JV baseball. After a few weeks into the season I was brought up to varsity as a utility player. I started at shortstop for our first Regional game and started at third base for the Regional Championship. This upcoming season in 2020 I will be the Starting shortstop and high in the pitching rotation on our varsity squad. I played in the USSSA All American team for the Great Lakes region. I was brought up onto the Illinois Hawks 16u team last year, I was asked back and I will play with the 17u Hawks team as a sophomore.

I want college coaches to know that I am a determined hard worker in and out of the classroom. I have my priorities straight and no matter what I will give anything my all 100% of the time. I want the best for my teammates and people around me and will always put them in the best spot I can. I am beyond thankful for all the support from family, friends, and coaches.
