My name is Maya Patel and I am in the Class of 2029 at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. Being a devoted golfer, I have accomplished many benchmarks that I am pleased with. In the 2025 summer season I finished with 6 IJGA wins being my first year of competitive golf. As of my 2025 freshman year, I qualified for both days of the IHSA state finals. In my recent 2026 season I finished with 9 IJGA wins including the Player of The Year Tournament and 1 Pepsi Little People’s win. I won 2 nationally ranked multiday events including the Pepsi Little People’s (4 AJGA Stars) and the Summer JR Elite (2 AJGA Stars) at Old Orchard Golf Club. So far, this sophomore season I shot a 71 (-1) at the St. Viator Invite for second place. Looking forward, I am eager to see what I can achieve in the 2026 high school season. My goals are to place top 15 in state as a sophomore and continue to have consistent rounds under par. As for my team we are looking to make it to the state championship together. I know that these goals are within reach for me if I continue to stay disciplined and determined to push myself to the best of my abilities and I am excited for the road ahead.   

I started playing golf when I was about 12 years old but I’ve only played tournament golf for a couple years. I joined the golf team when I was a freshman and played as seed 1 on varsity throughout the season. This was my first time playing with a team so I found the experience much different then what I was used to. I really enjoyed the friendships I have made over a couple years and the support that I’ve gotten from all the coaches and staff. I’ve continued to grow over a couple years by containing a good mental space while on and off the course to help keep me disciplined in my habits. For being a sophomore I try to present the need for a good attitude and health. I believe that these are the necessary things that bring achievement to not only the team but myself as an individual. In addition to golf I earned a 3.94 GPA my freshman year and I am a part of the Golf Club and Red Cross Club. I focus strongly on academics by taking challenging courses including AP and Honors classes that I find interesting and enjoyable. Outside of academics and athletics, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active, and doing creative activities.  

I have always been seeking to become better as a person whether it’s in academics or athletics. My passion to improve and work hard has always been a key factor in my personality on and off the course.
