My name is Quinn Anderson. I run track and cross country at Lane Tech College Prep (Class of 2027) in Chicago, Illinois. I have not always been a runner. Soccer and swimming were my sports, but I set a goal to have the fastest mile in 8th grade PE. When the 8th grade school year started, I got up every morning and ran 1 to 3 miles on my own before school. I joined track for the first time that spring, ending my 8th grade year with a first-place finish in the CPS Score City Championship with a 4:53 1600m and later that season ran a 4:48 at an unattached meet. Coaching and training at Lane enabled me to run 4:25 and 2:00.69 in the 1600m and 800m in my sophomore track season and 14:41 in the 3 mile in my junior cross country season. This coming junior track season my goals are to run around 4:15 in the 1600m, 9:15 in the 3200m, and 1:58 in the 800m.

Many students find college to be overwhelming at first but because I come from a team with two hundred kids and a school with 4,500 students, I am used to navigating school life and athletics in a busy environment. I have achieved a weighted GPA of 4.97 and have scored either 4 or 5 on every AP exam I have taken. In the classroom and running I am consistent and dedicated. I run six days a week, maintain my training over breaks, and stay on top of daily assignments and larger projects. I also help my team by staying positive and supporting teammates after an off day.

I am dedicated to running and I am looking forward to my future in this sport. I will continue training hard and working towards my goals. I hope to join a team that is supportive and competitive, where I can contribute to our team’s goals and help my teammates achieve their best.
