My name is Ryan Palmer, class of 2023, and I run cross country and track at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, IL. As a sophomore I have run 4:34 for 1600m, 9:58 for 3200m, and a 2:01 split for 800m. This past fall as a junior, I ran 15:13 for three miles and placed 53rd at the IHSA State Meet. Based on the returning field for next year I am ranked 16th. My goals for this upcoming track season are to go sub 4:20 for 1600, sub 9:25 for 3200, and sub 2:00 for the 800. Looking even further into my high school career, I have goals of breaking 4:14 for 1600m, 9:10 for 3200m, 1:55 for 800m, 14:30 for three miles, while also placing in the top 10 overall in the cross country state meet.   

As a recruit, my value goes beyond my running abilities. I have an extremely good work ethic outside of training itself. I typically get 9+ hours of sleep per night, I eat very cleanly, and spend lots of time taking care of my body. I also love the process of getting better and grinding through tough times. Furthermore, I’m willing to do whatever the team needs in order to be successful.  Academically, I have a 3.82 average gpa. I was in the golden ambassador program and a part of the principal’s advisory council. I am also applying to become a senior advisor.
