My name is Ryan Schaefer and I attend Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. I am a part of the graduating class of 2023. As a member of the varsity track and field  since my freshman year, I compete mainly in long jump, high jump, 300m hurdles, and the 4x400m relay. As of sophomore year, two of my personal records are on the top 10 list of best performances at my high school; long jump (21´8.25”), 300m hurdles (41.00). I also set a sophomore school record with my winning long jump at the varsity outdoor conference meet this past spring. I am very competitive in the high jump, as well, with a PR  of 6’. My performances in the jumps, in particular, are supported by my participation as a libero on an elite, nationally ranked club volleyball team. Coming out of my sophomore year, I achieved 3x all conference honors, and placed 4th in the long jump, 3rd in the 4x400m relay, and 6th in the 300m hurdles at the IHSA sectional meet. My goals as an upperclassman include running sub :40 in the 300 m hurdles and running a sub :51 for my 4×4 relay split, breaking the 22’ mark in long jump, and jumping 6’2 in the high jump.

I am a  serious student athlete, and I am also a very caring and likeable person. I am rarely satisfied in the classroom or on the track because I always want the highest grades and best performances I can possibly achieve. As high school becomes more challenging ,I find myself becoming an even more serious student athlete. At Glenbrook South, I am a part of the Titan Leadership Academy. This Academy teaches athletes at our high school valuable leadership skills  that will allow me to have a positive influence on my  team and in our community. This experience combined with being a multi-sport athlete has taught me many lessons including time management, leadership, communication, and discipline which I will carry with me on to college.
