My name is Sam Gibson and I am a member of the high school graduating class of 2022. I’m an Outside Mid/Forward for the Latin School of Chicago and the FC United 03 soccer teams and I’m interested in continuing my soccer and academic careers at the next level.

As the only freshman on Latin’s varsity team, I started in all 23 games last fall. During the season, I scored 16 goals and tallied 9 assists while playing right midfielder. My performance earned me an All-Conference 2nd team award and a place on the All-State freshman watch list. Some of my key assets as a soccer player are my strength, speed and vision. I use my physicality to my advantage and I have the ability to see the field and game in order to benefit my team’s position.

My club team, Chicago Fire 2003 Premier, competes in the USYS National League and the Midwest Regional League first division. I’m completing my second year on the team playing midfield and defense. My versatility as a player has allowed me to play multiple positions depending on the needs of the team. During our 2018/2019 National League season, I tallied 3 assists in 5 games. I have been a leader on and off the field by demonstrating a positive and competitive mindset, helping keep my teammates focused, and writing personalized workouts to help each player improve his fitness.

I’m also very committed to my studies. I currently have a 4.06 GPA (unweighted). At Latin, I participate in the Autism Support Club and play on the lacrosse team. My community service work has included preparing and serving hot meals to the homeless, lending a hand at local animal shelters, and volunteering with programs that help children with disabilities experience the benefit of participating in sports.  For more information, please email me at samgibson2022@gmail.com.
