My name is Samir Hussain and I am a class of 2022 cross country and track student athlete at Naperville Central High School. My PR’s are 2:04 in the 800, 4:37 in the 1600, 10:13 in the 3200, and 16:13 in 3 mile cross country. I am a 2x state qualifier in cross country and a 1x state qualifier in track as the alternate for an all-state 4×800 team. My goals for the 2021 cross country season is to run 15:30 in the 3 mile and qualify once again for the state meet. My goals for the 2022 track season are to run 1:58 in the 800, 4:23 in the 1600, and 9:40 in the 3200 as well as qualify for state in the 1600 and contend for a state title in the 4×800. These goals are ambitious but I’m willing to put the work in and be fully committed to them throughout these next two seasons. 

I started running year-round starting summer of my freshman year. I have been very committed and disciplined, pushing myself to get better every day. I also believe in elevating team culture and brotherhood as it makes everyone strive to be the best and brings forth team and individual success. This season, I was voted as a captain for the cross country team and I’m excited to help and lead the team to a great season. As important it is to work hard at practice everyday, it is also important to do the same in the classroom. I have a 4.167 GPA out of 4 and I take and have taken many honors and AP classes throughout high school. On  my AP tests, I have scored only 4’s and 5’s and I also scored a 35 on my ACT. Outside of school and practice, I also volunteered at the junior high cross country camp at my school throughout the summer.  

I’m very excited to run fast this last year of my high school experience. Running has been a big part of my life these past 4 years and I can’t wait to further my athletic and academic careers at the next level. For more information, please email me at samirxhussain2022@gmail.com.
