Hi! My name is Sofia Rosenzweig and I am a junior at Barrington High School located in Barrington Illinois. I am a class of 2023 triple jumper. I started triple jumping in the last month of my sophomore year, and fell in love with it. My first ever jump was 9.94 meters (32 feet 7 inches) at the Prospect Invitational (May 1, 2021). Later that season, I was lucky enough to win my sectional and qualify for the Illinois State Meet (June 13, 2021). Here I jumped a personal record of 11.28 meters (37 feet), securing me a 12th place spot. Because of COVID, we were unable to have finals, but I would have been excited to see how I would have done under those circumstances. My goals for junior year include going 39’0+ while gaining experience in long jump and contributing to my team in the relays.

Besides track, I spend my time working hard on my other sports and academics. I am a full year gymnast as well as a seasonal diver. In my high school years, I was able to qualify for state in gymnastics my freshman year, but unfortunately there was no state for gymnastics my sophomore year because of COVID. With diving, I was able to qualify for state this past year. Because I do these other sports, I have learned how to work hard, set goals and inspire my teammates to do the same. Academically, I have maintained a 4.12 cumulative GPA and have yet to take the ACT/SAT. By the end of my senior year, I will have received 26 honors credits and 6 AP credits. I also had the honor of getting to interview the new Athletic Director candidates along with four other students selected and it was a great leadership opportunity and experience!
