My name is Sophie Sorenson and I am a 2019 midfielder going to high school at Stevenson HS in Lincolnshire, IL. I am a two-sport athlete competing in volleyball and lacrosse and plan on playing lacrosse in college. My sophomore year, I received all state recognition in both sports and have also competed at the national level in both sports through the clubs I belong to. This past lacrosse season, my high school made it to the quarterfinals and I led the team in nearly every statistical category including goals, total points, GBCs, DCs and interceptions. I also set our school record for most points scored in a season (94). During the club season, I played for both the True Lacrosse national team and IL state team and was a leader in many statistical categories in the tournaments we competed in.

At 5’9” and 135 lbs, I am known for my speed and all around athleticism. In 2016, I competed in the crossfit open competition and finished in the top 150 in the world in my age group. And while I do score effectively against top competition, the teams I play for rely on me to use my athleticism to get control of the ball and facilitate clearing the ball to the offensive end of the field. I am also a tenacious defender and am often matched against the other team’s top offensive player. Our high school volleyball team finished 3rd in state this past year in the large school division and I was a leader in many statistical categories for the team and led the entire state in service aces for the year. Outside of sports, I am active in several clubs at school including student council and our freshman mentor program. I have a 3.6 GPA through my sophomore year and want to find a school that will be both a fit for me academically as well as for lacrosse. I also have a passion for singing and won our high school talent show this past year and have sung the national anthem at several of my games.

I have a passion for competing and strive to excel in all aspects of my life. I also love the camaraderie that goes with playing team sports and the satisfaction you get when you work hard and achieve success together. I want to find a school that will inspire me in those ways and where I can contribute to the success of a team and the broader college community. For more information, please email me at sophiesorenson2019@gmail.com.
