My name is Trevor Baptist. I am in the class of 2027 and am competing for Novi High School in Michigan. Currently, I have a PR of 15:52 in the 5k along with a 9:56 3200. I also have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 4.13 weighted GPA, and a 1520 SAT score. I take academics very seriously and make sure to find a balance between academics and athletics. In the 2024 and 2025 cross country seasons I qualified for the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals, also gaining All-Region, All-Conference, and All-County. Getting ready for my junior year track season, my goals are 4:30 for the 1600 and 9:25 for the 3200. 

Although my goals are important, they are not the only thing I prioritize. As a cross country captain, I also focus on being a role model for the people around me. I believe that in order to make sure I help my team as much as possible I must lead by example in everything that I do, big or small. I have done cross country and track since 7th grade when I realized my passion for running. Since then I have always stayed committed to the sport, even through the ups and downs. My dedication on and off the course has helped me benefit our team and receive MVP for the 2024 and 2025 cross country seasons. One thing that contributed to being MVP was my consistent interaction with everyone on the team. Being able to view things in a level headed and productive way allowed me to reflect on my own races along with some of my teammates. This boosted team morale and allowed our team to focus on improving instead of sulking over the past. Outside of running I have a summer job working as a lab assistant under Dr. Charles Schuler at the University of Michigan. It has helped grow my teamwork skills along with my problem solving ability, often being faced with difficult tasks. I also participate in HOSA, a medical related competition, where I qualified for the State Conference. These activities along with others I have done have deepened my interest in biomedical engineering, which I hope to major in during college.
