My name is Jack Lyons. I run cross country and track in the class of 2027 at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. I’ve spent my whole life trying to find something I love, and then I found running. I have always loved running ever since I started in 7th grade, using it to get out of having to take a PE class. And as I’ve gotten older, I have grown to love the competitive nature of the sport. Last fall, I spent working towards my cross country season, achieving a 14:59 at the Illinois Class 3A IHSA State Meet, becoming the 4th fastest junior in my school’s history. In my upcoming junior outdoor track season, I have set goals to run 9:20 in the 3200m and 4:20 in the 1600m. Academically, last semester I had a 3.8 GPA, achieving the goal of honor role, and I plan on taking two AP classes my senior year which will catapult my GPA beyond the 3.4 cumulative as it stands today. 

Inside and outside the sport, I have strived to lead with a positive attitude and perform to the best of my ability. I would like to run at a University where I can contribute to a great team culture and have the resources to become the best possible me through athletics and academics. Outside of running, I participate in my school’s sports leadership program and the local Glenview Environmental Restoration Network which allows us opportunities to help others in the community by picking up trash. Over the summer, I work as a camp counselor at the Glenview Park District.
